The People You’ll Work With Every Step of the Way
Scott Hensley, JD, CPA joined Stancil in 2004 and focuses primarily in the Firm’s tax compliance and tax planning service areas. In particular, Scott concentrates his efforts in the planning and preparation of Corporation, S-Corporation and Partnership income tax returns and their effects on the owners. Prior to joining Stancil, Scott worked in the tax department for PricewaterhouseCoopers for five years where he served a number of middle market businesses in Eastern North Carolina. He also spent three years as the tax manager for Stock Building Supply, a national retailer of building supplies. Drawing upon his private sector experience, Scott thinks of his clients as business partners as he provides business advice as well as tax advice.
Scott is an active participant of Boards in the community as well. He is a current member of the Triangle Red Cross Board and the Friends of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. He also participated as a consultant to businesses through the Business Accelerator for Sustainable Entrepreneurship Program with the University of North Carolina School of Business. Scott is a graduate of North Carolina State University and The John Marshall Law School. Scott is a licensed attorney in the State of North Carolina and a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He currently resides in North Raleigh with his wife, Sheila, and their three children, sons Sterling and Stone, and daughter Sierra.
David Piscorik
David Piscorik joined the Stancil team in 2003 and is currently the Partner of the Business Resource Group. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a financial analyst at IBM and at Parente Beard, a mid-atlantic regional public accounting firm. In addition to serving clients in the areas of outsourced business consulting and cash flow management accounting services, David has concentrated his efforts in serving startup companies, closely-held businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
David serves on the Board of Directors for the Association Executives of North Carolina (AENC) and is a contributing author for the AENC’s magazine Success by Association.
David is also actively involved in the community having served on the Board of Directors at his local home owners association as well as having served as the Finance Chair at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
David is a graduate of the University of Scranton and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants of which he is a contributing author of their magazine Journal of Accountancy and a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. David and his wife, Jennifer, have three children.
Ryan Christians
Ryan Christians is a Tax CPA with 19 years of professional experience, bringing a strong foundation in both accounting and business to his work. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Honors Economics from the University of Michigan, followed by a Master of Accountancy and an MBA from the University of Louisville.
He specializes in tax compliance and tax planning services for small to medium-sized businesses—including Corporations, S-corporations, LLC’s, and partnerships—as well as start-up companies and individual tax clients. Throughout his career, he has provided tax and accounting services through local CPA firms in Louisville, Kentucky, and Zebulon, North Carolina, developing well-rounded expertise in serving both individuals and businesses.
Ryan joined Stancil in 2017. He is a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He currently resides in Rolesville, North Carolina, with his wife, Melissa, an 8th grade teacher in Wake County.
Nicholas Lombardi, Jr., CPA
Nicholas Lombardi, Jr., CPA, has been a valued member of the Stancil team since 1994, following more than ten years in the banking industry. Over the course of his career with the firm, he has served in key leadership roles, including Managing Partner, and today serves as a general practice partner and the Firm’s Senior Audit Partner. In these roles, Nick provides leadership and expertise across the firm’s accounting and attestation, taxation, and small business consulting services.
Nick serves a diverse client base of both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, including foundations, associations, medical and dental practices, construction contractors, and other closely held businesses. He is known for delivering thoughtful, solution-oriented guidance tailored to each client’s goals and challenges. His work is defined by a strong commitment to client service, practical problem-solving, and helping organizations make informed decisions that strengthen operations and support long-term success.
In addition to his client work, Nick has made significant contributions to the accounting profession. He is a former chairman of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants’ Accounting and Attestation Committee and a former chairman of the NCACPA’s Not-For-Profit Committee. He has also been a frequent speaker for SCORE and a contributing author to the NCACPA’s Interim Report and the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits’ Common Ground newsletter.
Nick is also deeply committed to community service, having volunteered on several boards and served as an advisor to a variety of nonprofit entities. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Charles E. Garrison
Charles E. Garrison joined Stancil in 2008. His practice focuses on start-ups to middle-market businesses and their owners. Charles provides transactional, tax planning and compliance advisory services. Stakeholders regularly engage Charles to provide transactional assistance from investment consideration, architecture, due diligence, closing and post-closing integration both regionally and nationally.
Before joining the Stancil team, Charles served as Chief Financial Officer for the Whistler Investment Group, a middle-market real estate developer, and Corporate Secretary and Senior Tax Officer for General Parts, Inc., a multi-billion-dollar distributor of the CARQUEST auto parts brand. With each role, Charles was a valuable member of the senior leadership team, recognized for his skill at identifying and exploiting new opportunities, mitigating risk, and achieving high reward goals.
A proud graduate of North Carolina State University and The Ohio State’s Fisher College of Executive Education, Charles and his wife Christie live in Raleigh. His daughter, Isabella, is a Doctoral student at the University of Alabama.

Diane Helms
Diane Helms joined the Stancil team in 2006. Diane has over thirty years of experience performing audits for both public and private entities. Primarily her focus is on serving for-profits, not-for-profits, which include yellow book audits, and employee benefit plan audits. She also works with tax clients that need guidance and preparation of 1040s, 990s, 5500s, Gift tax returns, and trust returns.
Diane has served several years on the NCACPA Employee Benefit Plan’s annual conference committee including leading continuing professional education and is also a past-President of the Triangle Benefits Forum.
Diane is a graduate of Florida State University and earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting. Licensed to practice in Florida and in North Carolina, she is a member of both the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants as well as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mike Trefzger, CPA
Mike Trefzger, CPA, joined Stancil in 2016 and currently serves as a Partner for the audit department. In this role, he leads the firm’s audit and attest practice, with a primary focus on nonprofit organizations and closely held businesses. Mike is known for delivering high-quality assurance services while maintaining a practical, client-focused approach that emphasizes clear communication and meaningful insight.
Mike earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees in Accounting from North Carolina State University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina. He has over ten years of experience providing audit and tax services across a variety of industries.
Mike is an active leader within the profession. He currently serves as Chair of the NCACPA’s Audit and Accounting (A&A) Resource Group and is a member of the NCACPA and AICPA. He has also contributed to recent exposure drafts, reflecting his involvement in the development and advancement of professional standards. In addition, Mike has served on the NCACPA’s Young Professionals Cabinet and is a contributing author to the NCACPA’s Interim Report. Outside of work, Mike enjoys playing tennis and spending time with his wife Juliette and his daughter Isabelle.
